Memorial Day creates a deep connection between the personal and the national. This year,  precisely because of the ongoing domestic tension, we have to focus on our personal remembrance and to imbue ourselves with its powerful human strength.

According to the findings, the level of motivation to serve in a combat capacity in 2022 was the lowest in recent years. In December 2022 only 66% of the male respondents said they would like to join fighting units, compared to 73% in 2020. 

Peace is only possible in Khartoum if the causes of nearly 70 years of instability are meaningfully addressed.

“This is not about so-called judicial reform, it’s about democracy,” Sheila Katz, head of the National Council of Jewish Women, said from the rally in central Tel Aviv – a sea of blue-and-white national flags.

It is our job and sacred duty not only to remember the Holocaust, but also to rebuild.
