Some 76 years ago, during a trip to northern Israel with his sister Shulamith, Abraham Dubno wrote and drew a charming booklet entitled "A Trip to the Galilee". Just one year later, he was killed during the War of Independence. Rina and Rachel, the daughters of Shulamith, who passed away in 1975, set off together on a journey to reconstruct part of the trip described in the booklet with illustrations and rhymes, and through this to attempt to understand the enigmatic characters of their uncle and mother.
Even if there are those who would tell us, in the hope of achieving gain, that the end is nigh, we must not succumb to their propaganda. We are now in the process of forging our national and spiritual identity, and it is natural that we will suffer birth pains.
